Info On Your Fishing Guide
Sacha was born in Richmond B.C. and raised and lived in the Lower Mainland all of his life. As a young boy he was introduced to fishing and the outdoors by his opa, which has now turned into an obsession, as well as a career. He now currently resides in Surrey B.C. with his wife Anna, two year old Hunter, as well as his two German short haired pointers, Isis and Coleman.
Most memorable catch:
“My most memorable catch would actually be my wife’s catch. While sturgeon fishing below Hope, I set the hook on a heavy fish and held on for just a few seconds before the fish lept from the water. As soon as my wife saw its size she quickly booted me off the rod, and took over. Near an hour later, we had the nine foot two inch beast on the river bank for photos and high fives! I was so proud of my wife, she fought that fish only a few seconds from the start to finish, without so much as a whimper, never asking for help, never passing the rod off once, a chore for most men!”
Favourite target species:
“I don’t have one favourite target species, living in B.C. affords me the opportunity to fish for so many fantastic sport fish species, it basically impossible to choose just one. I do really enjoy targeting sturgeon while guiding, watching people freak out with a huge sturgeon on the rod is very rewarding”
Favourite hobbies & interests:
Sacha will always be out hunting when there is a free moment from fishing. He enjoys hunting all types of big game and small, but of late, hunting mountain sheep has been his affliction.
“Hunting sheep truly tests the limits of what my body and mind will do, not to mention there is no better scenery anywhere in the world that from the top of the sheep mountain”
If not fishing or hunting, Sacha devotes his time to his family and dogs, finding the most enjoyment out of watching Hunter grow up into a mini version of himself!
How long you’ve been fishing for:
-Sacha has been fishing most of his life, getting introduced to angling by his Opa at a very young age. Sacha has grown up fishing the rivers, lakes, and local salt-water haunts since he was a child, rarely giving up an opportunity to get out fishing.
“I still remember my Opa taking me out to the ferry spit to just catch course fish when I was about three or four”
Why you enjoy guiding:
“Without a doubt, the enjoyment from guiding comes from seeing your guests realize their angling dreams. The smiles on their faces, the amazement, and the joy that we as guides are able to help them achieve. Besides, who wouldn’t want to work on a boat fishing every day!”
Top Fishing Goals/Expectations:
“At this point, my greatest nemesis is boating a double digit sturgeon. I have landed many large fish, up to nine foot ten inches, but never broken ten feet. I truly want to boat one of these rare monsters, while guiding or fishing for myself, just got to land one!”
