British Columbia Salmon Fishing. Salmon Fishing Guides Serving Vancouver, Whistler, Chilliwack and Fraser Valley

The Coho Salmon, also known as Silver Salmon, is a feisty acrobat that is a big favourite amongst many river anglers. Not nearly as big as the Chinook Salmon, the Coho, on average weighs between 6-10lbs, but many fish up to 15+lbs are available. They enter our rivers fresh from the ocean, silver in colour, and in prime fighting and eating condition. As they mature and come closer to spawning time, their colours change to beautiful reds and purples. Their rich, great tasting, reddish, meat is comparable to the Sockeye's, making it a highly sought after sport fish.

They are known for their aggressive, yet "moody" behaviour, which can provide a good challenge for any angler. They will chase and strike at a wide variety of presentations, making them an ideal salmon species to target using flies, spoons and spinners. They can also be caught using traditional drift gear with natural and artificial baits, and are a lot of fun using light and medium tackle.

Our Coho Salmon are present in our rivers from mid Aug-Feb, with September through to November being the top months… see "species availability chart". While fishing for Coho Salmon, one can also expect to hook Chum Salmon and Chinook Salmon. The Coho runs are a big part of our famous world-class FALL SALMON FISHERY…see our Higlight Fisheries.
