Fly Fishing BC Trips
Fly fishing trips in southwestern British Columbia can produce some spectacular results! Our local rivers are some of the most prolific and scenic fly fishing waters this province has to offer, providing the fly angler with a diverse range of angling opportunities. We are fortunate to have rivers that produce fly fishing opportunities almost year-round.
Our company offers fly fishing charters for 5 species of salmon, steelhead, and a variety of trout species including: sea-run bull trout, rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, and dolly varden. If you enjoy fly fishing, then you definitely have to experience what our rivers have to offer.
For those interested in salmon fly fishing in BC, our area offers a variety of opportunities throughout different times of the year. Please visit our Fish Calendar to view when our salmon runs are present. Some of our salmon runs are so big, that hooking 50+ salmon on the fly is not uncommon during an 8hr outing.
The first good salmon fly fishing opportunities for anglers start in late July-early August on the Pitt River, where large sockeye salmon eagerly await to chase a swung fly. Every 2 years and on the odd years only, enormous runs of Pink Salmon enter our rivers in Aug and Sept, and create a dream fishery for any avid fly angler. From mid Sept to late Nov, the Coho Salmon & Chum Salmon arrive in great numbers as well, providing thrilling and tackle-busting fly fishing opportunities to novice and expert anglers alike. Although large summer Chinook Salmon are present in the river system in July and August, we don’t start fly fishing for them until late September, when the fall Chinook Salmon start showing up. October is our peak fly fishing month for the fall salmon species. Having proper equipment is a must, as empty spools and broken rods are not uncommon.
Steelhead fly fishing trips are a lot more challenging, but it is extremely rewarding and satisfying when you find, hook, and land a fly-caught steelhead. Best fly fishing for steelhead is from February to end of April. For more information, check out our “wake & wade” and “1-on-1 Instructional Fly Fishing Trips”.
Fly fishing for sea-run bull trout on the Pitt River exist in June & July. Although year-round fishing is available for cutthroat and rainbow trout on some of our rivers, fall and winter/spring months produce better than average results.
